This technology is very suitable for CNC machine, because the distance between the tool and guide sleeve is short, which is beneficial to enhance the support and reduce the vibration.

The screw of medical bone was processed by the technology of whirlwind milling. The whirlwind milling cutter ring with the blade installed in the inner ring rotates around the cylindrical workpiece and processes the thread. The smooth tangential cutting movement can reduce the cutting force and improve the metal removal rate.

In order to reduce the machining chatter (the biggest problem that may occur in the thread whirlwind milling) and extend the tool life, the manufacturer shall select the thread whirlwind milling cutter ring with the blade installed at unequal distance. Because it is a high-strength material to be processed, the milling insert must bear great impact, so it is necessary to select the fine grain blade matrix with high hardness and apply wear-resistant coating to prolong the tool life and improve the surface finish.
